Pick #1: DJ McKinney – Sam Houston Bearcats – More than 57.5 Rushing Yards

McKinney looks to be seeing an expanded role with the Bearcats as the season has progressed. He racked up 138 yards on 14 carries in a similarly soft matchup two weeks ago against UTEP and should be locked into double-digit carries once again tonight.

FIU has been terrible against the run lately. In their last two games, they have allowed 213 yards on 45 carries to UTEP last week (UTEP’s first win of the season) and also 281 yards on 50 carries to Liberty. Grab McKinney here at less than 60 rushing yards.

Pick #2: Tru Edwards – Louisiana Tech Bulldogs – More than 5.5 receptions

This season, the senior wideout is finally putting up big numbers for the Bulldogs. Edwards hauled in nine grabs for 110 yards last week against New Mexico State. He has now topped this 5.5 target in three straight games and has also racked up 100+ receiving yards on three occasions this season.

I expect Louisiana Tech to win this game, but with the spread sitting at 7.5, it figures to remain close the entire way through. This means LT and their impressive freshman QB Evan Bullock will have plenty of opportunities to damage with the passing attack. In the three games with Bullock behind center, Edwards has amassed 23 receptions for 276 yards and three scores.
