Pick #1: Hunter Brown – Houston Astros – More than 4.5 Strikeouts
The San Diego Padres have been the toughest team in MLB to strike out this season, but I’m still not deterred here. Hunter Brown has quietly been on of the best pitchers in baseball for the last half of the season; posting a 2.19 ERA while racking up 108 strikeouts in 102.2 innings over his last 17 starts. Brown has picked up at least five strikeouts in 17 of his last 19 starts. He should also benefit from the favorable park shift as he takes the mound tonight in spacious Petco Park. Grab this one now before it moves to 5 or 5.5.
Pick #2 – Joc Pederson – Arizona Diamondbacks – More than 1.5 Total Bases
Joc Pederson is in the midst of a terrific season for the Diamondbacks. The veteran left-hander owns a .923 OPS as a platoon piece in the middle of their order against right-handed pitching this season. He sports a .399 wOBA against right-handers and has a terrific matchup awaiting him against the very hittable Ryan Feltner, who has limped his way to a 6.25 ERA and 1.58 WHIP in 12 starts at Coors Field. With lefties owning a .339 wOBA against Felter, Joc should find plenty of opportunities to do damage this evening.
