Pick #1: Trea Turner – Philadelphia Phillies – More than 1.5 Total Bases
Despite being held in check last night, Turner had been on a tear leading up to the game. This season, he has excelled against left-handed pitching, rocking a .398 wOBA and a 158 wRC+. Turner is very familiar with the Braves’ pitcher Max Fried, and he has dominated Fried historically, hitting .396 with three home runs and three doubles in 43 at-bats. Adding to this, Fried has struggled in recent outings, with a concerning 7.90 ERA and 1.98 WHIP over his last three starts. I’ll start my Wednesday slip with Turner at a 1.11X return.
Pick #2: Logan Webb – San Francisco Giants – Lower than 5.5 Hits Allowed
This line seems off. Logan Webb will take the mound today owning a 3.17 ERA and 1.22 WHIP on the season. He’s been even better at home, as he’s posted a 7-3 record to go along with a 2.26 ERA and 1.00 WHIP in 12 starts at AT&T Park. Webb has not allowed six hits in any of his last four starts and has perhaps the top matchup on the board against the Chicago White Sox. Chicago is hitting just .218 as a team since the All-Star break and .220 against right-handed pitching this season. The Sox hold an embarrassing 12-53 road record and have dropped four straight coming into this afternoon’s game. Webb should roll here.
