Pick #1: Gavin Lux – Los Angeles Dodgers – More than 7.0 Fantasy Points

We might just finally be witnessing the post-hype breakout of Gavin Lux. He stayed hot in last night’s game and will put an eight-game hitting streak on the line this afternoon. Lux owns a .400 wOBA against right-handed pitching since the beginning of July and is thriving in a spot in the top half of this Los Angeles batting order.

He’ll face Osvaldo Bido today, who was shelled for 7 earned runs in just 3.1 innings in his last start. Left-handed hitters own a .374 wOBA against Bido in his brief MLB career and I expect Lux to keep things churning to close out this weekend series in Oakland.

Pick #2: Jurickson Profar – San Diego Padres – More than 7.0 Fantasy Points

After a strong May, Cal Quantrill has taken a turn for the worse. The veteran right-hander has posted an ugly 6.92 ERA and 1.66 WHIP over his last eight starts and has, somewhat surprisingly, actually pitched worse away from Coors Field this season. Quantrill owns one of the least successful fastballs in MLB this season (-15.9 wFB), and Profar has punished fastballs for a 8.1 wFB in 2024.

Profar has an OPS over .900 at Petco Park and has had success against Quantrill in their previous battles. Colorado has held him in check in the first two games of this series, but I like his chances to break out of this mini-slump today.
