Pick #1: Teoscar Hernandez – Log Angeles Dodgers – More than 1.5 Total Bases
Joey Estes had a solid performance coming out of the ‘pen for the Oakland A’s in his last game, but he’s struggled as a starter this season. He has a 4.92 ERA over 71.1 innings, and his 5.22 xFIP suggests he might not improve much. Tonight, he faces a tough matchup against the Dodgers, who have a strong .336 team wOBA against left-handed pitchers.
Meanwhile, Teoscar Hernandez has been great against lefties all season, with a .956 OPS and ten home runs in just 107 at-bats. I expect him to bounce back from his brief (two-game) slump tonight.
Pick #2: Aaron Judge – New York Yankees – More than 1.5 Total Bases
Aaron Judge is hitting baseballs as hard as we’ve ever seen. He’ll step into the batter’s box tonight owning a 1.127 OPS against right-handed pitching and a 1.149 OPS at Yankee Stadium. He is set to square off against Kevin Gausman, whose 36.8% hard-hit rate is the highest mark in all of MLB.
Gausman has been absolutely shelled by this New York team in three different meetings this season and Judge has been the massive thorn in the veteran’s side. In 37 ABs against Gausman, Judge owns 11 hits, two doubles, and five home runs. I’ll be looking too him often in my slips tonight.
