Pick #1: Bobby Witt Jr. – Kansas City Royals – More than 10 Fantasy Points

Are you fading Witt against an uproven right-hander for the White Sox? I’m certainly not. He picked up four hits, including a Grand Slam, in last night’s game and has been as locked in as anyone in recent memory for well over a month now. Jonathan Cannon has pitched admirably for the White Sox this season, but don’t get carried away. He owned a 5.50 ERA through 37.2 innings at the AAA level prior to getting the call to the big club, and his 12.5% K% is the lowest mark in MLB among all qualified pitchers over the last 30 days.

Witt’s OPS is just shy of 1.000 against right-handers this season, and he’s doing damage—lots and lots of damage—in every facet of the game. Without hesitation, I’ll start my ticket with him again tonight.

Pick #2: Matt Waldron – San Diego Padres – Less than 4.5 Strikeouts

As Waldron approached a career-high in innings pitched during his career, his strikeouts are starting to dry up. He’s failed to reach five strikeouts in six of his last ten starts and his strikeout rate has dipped all the way down to 16.4% over the last 30 days. Tonight, de draws a daunting matchup against a rival Los Angeles Dodgers team that has posted an MLB-best .334 wOBA and 119 wRC+ this season. With just 19 K’s in his last 29.1 innings of work, it’s going to be tough for Waldron to pitch deep enough into this ball game to record 5+ strikeouts.
