Tyler Anderson – Los Angeles Angels – Fewer than 25.5 Fantasy Points
Tyler Anderson may just win the award for the luckiest pitcher in MLB as we head into the All-Star break. On the surface, his 3.03 ERA and 1.24 WHIP on the season look pretty darn decent, but all signs point to some major regression. He’ll take the mound today at Wrigley Field, owning the highest xFIP (5.30) among all qualified pitchers this season, and his .232 BABIP is unsustainably low, given it sits at .284 for his career.
Luis Medina – Oakland Athletics – Fewer than 4 Strikeouts
Medina pitched well in his last outing, but the 25-year-old has only surpassed this total twice in six starts this season (with six strikeouts being his season high). He is met with one of the toughest pitching matchups on the board as this left-handed heavy Baltimore team that has tagged righties to the tune of a .332 wOBA and MLB-high .207 ISO this season and all while strikeout out at just a 20.3% clip. With some good hitting weather predicted in Oakland today (84 degrees with breeze blowing out), I expect Medina to get the hook before he can flirt with 5 strikeouts.
