Paul Goldschmidt MORE THAN 0.5 Singles
Paul Goldschmidt is off to a strong start this season, hitting an impressive .364 with an expected batting average of .310 — both signs that he’s seeing the ball well at the plate. He also draws a favorable matchup today against Kevin Gausman, a pitcher he’s had plenty of success against historically. In 16 career plate appearances versus Gausman, Goldschmidt is 7-for-12 with four walks, and six of those seven hits have been singles. At this stage in his career, Goldy’s not exactly blazing around the bases, ranking in just the 26th percentile for sprint speed, and that’s reflected in his production — 29 of his 36 hits this season have been singles. With some extra value on his singles prop today, I absolutely love this spot for Goldschmidt.
Erick Fedde MORE THAN 4.5 Hits Allowed
Erick Fedde has struggled this season, posting a .273 expected batting average against — landing him in just the 24th percentile — along with a lowly 12% strikeout rate. Simply put, Fedde is a junk-ball pitcher, and right now, his stuff just isn’t fooling anyone. Historically, he hasn’t fared much better against today’s opponent either. In 74 career matchups against the current Brewers lineup, they’ve lit him up for a .405 batting average. While there’s some appealing extra value on the 5.5 hits allowed prop, the safer bet looks like the over 4.5 hits allowed, especially considering Fedde has given up at least five hits in three of his last four outings.
