Jordan Hicks MORE THAN 4.5 Strikeouts
Jordan Hicks has cleared this strikeout line in four of his five starts so far this season, showcasing strong swing-and-miss stuff with an average of just under nine strikeouts per nine innings. Today, he draws a matchup against a Rangers lineup that strikes out at a 22% clip — a solid spot for a pitcher with Hicks’ strikeout ability. Even in limited experience against this roster, Hicks has been effective, racking up 10 strikeouts over just 19 plate appearances. Given his recent form and the matchup, I like Hicks’ chances to go over this number once again.
Hunter Brown MORE THAN 3.5 Strikeouts
Hunter Brown has been impressive to start the season, boasting a strong 28.2% strikeout rate along with a 27.2% whiff rate. He’s cleared this strikeout line in four of his five starts so far, averaging over six strikeouts per outing. While he faces a tough challenge today against a disciplined Royals lineup, it’s worth noting that Brown has still managed a solid 25% strikeout rate against the current Royals hitters. Despite the matchup, Brown’s swing-and-miss ability gives him a good shot to hit this number once again.
