Marquez has been trending sharply in the wrong direction since his season debut, capped off by a disastrous outing his last time out, where he gave up 7 runs and didn’t make it out of the first inning. He’s leaned more heavily on his slider and sinker this year, but the results haven’t been pretty. Opponents are posting a .369 xWOBA against the slider and an even more alarming .462 xWOBA with a staggering .737 slugging percentage against the sinker. This sets up as a prime spot for the Royals to do some serious damage.
Brady Singer MORE THAN 3.5 Strikeouts (Goblin)
Singer has cleared this number in three of his four starts this season, averaging an even 6 strikeouts per outing. He’s off to a strong start with a 26.7% strikeout rate and now draws a favorable matchup against a Marlins lineup that’s striking out at a 24.9% clip against right-handed pitching. This sets up as a solid opportunity for Singer to pile up the strikeouts.
