Dylan Cease MORE THAN 6 Strikeouts
Cease has recorded 6 or more strikeouts in 3 of his 4 starts this season, averaging exactly 6 punchouts per outing. He’ll take the mound against a familiar opponent in the Astros — a team he’s had considerable success against. In 94 career at-bats, Houston hitters have managed just 13 hits while striking out 25 times against Cease. On top of that, the Astros are striking out at a 22.7% clip versus right-handed pitching this season. With that kind of track record and a favorable matchup, I really like this number for Cease to hit again.
Michael Wacha MORE THAN 3.5 Strikeouts (Goblin)
Wacha has cleared this strikeout line in each of his last three outings and in three of his four starts so far this season, showing strong form early on. He draws a favorable matchup here against a Detroit lineup that’s striking out at nearly a 24% rate against right-handed pitching. Historically, Wacha has also fared well against the current Tigers roster, posting a solid 21.5% strikeout rate against the batters he’s faced. Given the matchup and his recent consistency, I really like this alternate number for Wacha.
