Pick #1: Kyle Williams – Washington State – Fewer than 72.5 Receiving Yards
Washington State is facing major roster upheaval, with QB John Mateer heading to Oklahoma, Head Coach Jake Dickert moving to Wake Forest, and bell-cow RB Wayshawn Parker transferring to Utah. Roughly a third of the team has entered the transfer portal, leaving the Cougars severely depleted heading into the Holiday Bowl.
While senior wideout Kyle Williams has had a stellar season with 60 receptions for 1,026 yards, this game sets up as a tough spot for him to close out his WSU career. New QB Zevi Eckhaus, who has thrown just seven career passes at the FBS level, will be under center against a Syracuse defense allowing 216 passing yards per game. With the spread sitting at 17.5, there’s a real chance this game could get out of hand quickly, limiting Williams’ opportunities. Williams failed to reach 73 yards in 6 of 12 games this season with a fully healthy squad, making me feel there’s value in playing him to grab fewer than 72.5 receiving yards.
Pick #2: Tahj Brooks – Texas Tech Red Raiders – Fewer than 132.5 Rushing Yards
Tahj Brooks has been incredible this season. He deserves more credit than he’s received. Brooks has rushed for 100+ yards in every single game this season and enters his final collegiate game with 1505 rushing yards in 12 games. With that said, the rushing defenses he’s faced have been mediocre (to be kind) and his 5.3 YPC implies he’ll need to tote the rock 25+ times to reach this figure.
With that said, Arkansas’ strength is their rushing defense (121.8 yards allowed per game), but they’ve been vulnerable through the air. Against weaker competition, Brooks has topped 133+ yards in “just” half of his games this season. This target is just a bit too lofty, and I’ll grab him to get fewer than 132.5 rushing yards, as the Arkansas offense can also run the ball – and thus the clock.
