Pick #1: George Pettaway – James Madison – More than 64.5 Rushing Yards

Western Kentucky will barely field a full team in this game, as they’ve already seen nearly half of their roster enter the transfer portal. Even at full strength, this was still a squad that had been carved up on the ground as they’ve allowed 224.6 rushing yards per game this season, “good” for the seventh-worst mark in FBS.

Pettaway leads this dangerous James Madison offense in rushing yards, racking up 880 yards on 5.9 ypc. Prior to being held in check against Marshall, Pettaway had sailed way past this target number in four straight games. I expect James Madison to face little resistance in trying to move the ball against WKU, and Pettaway should see plenty of opportunities to make this a sweat-free play.

Pick #2: Jaydn Ott – California – Less than 55.5 Rushing Yards

California lost its QB to the transfer portal, and we’ve seen this betting line swing into UNLV’s favor. With the passing game now in question, it’s also worth noting that Javian Thomas is back and ready to split the workload with Ott in Cal’s backfield. Ott has been stuck in the mud a bit lately, failing to top 40+ rushing yards in five of his last six outings.

UNLV is far from a pushover against the run, as the Rebels have allowed just 113.6 yards per game on the ground this season (19th in FBS)…. And two of those games came against Ashton Jeanty! There are too many factors working against Ott in this one, and I don’t see him getting there.
