Pick #1: Terry McLaurin – Washington Commanders – Fewer than 48.5 Receiving Yards
Jayden Daniels has played reasonably well for the Commanders in his first two NFL starts, but he is living on checkdowns and short routes. He is averaging just 10.25 yards per completion (3.2 Air Yards per attempt) and is slated to face a Bengals defense that has allowed just 128.5 passing yards per game to start the season. And that includes a game against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs vaunted passing attack.
McLaurin enters tonight’s primetime matchup having just 39 receiving yards through the first two weeks. He did manage to haul in six balls last weekend against the New York Giants, but they resulted in next-to-nothing (22 yards). With rain potentially in the forecast in Cincinnati tonight, I don’t expect to see too many downfield targets from Daniels here.
Pick #2: Gabe Davis – Jacksonville Jaguars – More than 39.5 Receiving Yards
Week 3 brings Gabe Davis back to Buffalo to play against his former team. With CB Taron Johnson sidelined for this one, the Bills’ defensive injury woes are starting to mount. Davis hasn’t yet lived up to his big free agency contract with the Jags just yet, but he has picked up three catches in each of the first two games, totaling 105 yards in the process. He topped this 39.5-yardage target in both contests.
With both the revenge narrative and game script likely pointing in his favor here, Davis should see plenty of chances to do some damage through the air against his former team. Grab this play at 39.5 yards before it starts to creep up.
