Pick #1: Corey Seager – Texas Rangers – More than 1.5 Total Bases

Mitch Spence has not pitched well away from the spacious Oakland Coliseum, as he owns a subpar 5.26 ERA and 1.37 WHIP in 14 appearances on the road this season. He pitched well in his last outing but owns an ERA north of 5.00 since the beginning of June. Meanwhile, Corey Seager has started to heat back up. He’s posted a 1.010 OPS with 11 home runs and 24 RBIs during the month of August. Seager thrives against right-handed pitching (.396 wOBA) and should find success at the plate once again this afternoon. Let’s start this slip by riding Seager’s hot bat in a favorable matchup.

Pick #2: Justin Wrobleski – Los Angeles Dodgers – More than 2.5 Strikeouts

The Los Angeles Dodgers need some innings from in a bad way. After losing Kershaw after just one inning in the series opener, the bullpen was busy again last night as Gavis Stone was somewhat ineffective and inefficient through five innings last night. This is not a great matchup in Arizona, and I’m not expecting great things from Wrobleski by any stretch, but this strikeout total still seems very reasonable.

The left-hander has pitched five innings in three of his four MLB starts and has picked up at least three strikeouts in four of those five starts as well. Wrobleski racked up 98 strikeouts in 93.1 innings between AA and AAA to start the season and figures to have 90+ pitches to work with this afternoon.
