Pick #1: Kyle Schwarber – Philadelphia Phillies – More than 7.0 Fantasy Points
Kyle Schwarber has consistently excelled against right-handed pitching, boasting a .364 wOBA throughout his career. His dominance extends to his encounters with Michael Wacha, against whom he has a remarkable 7-for-19 record with four home runs. Although Wacha has had a strong season with Kansas City, he has historically been more vulnerable to left-handed hitters.
Schwarber has posted a .996 OPS over the last 30 days, hitting 9 home runs, driving in 24 RBIs, and scoring 18 runs during that time period. I expect him to find a way to do some damage for the Phillies this evening.
Pick #2: Kerry Carpenter – Detroit Tigers – More than 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs
Kerry Carpenter looks like a nice option to target this evening. He has a favorable matchup on tap against Chris Flexen, who has the highest xFIP (5.37) among pitchers with at least 100 innings this season. Flexen has particularly struggled against left-handed hitters, surrendering a .374 wOBA and 12 home runs in just 52.1 innings.
Although Carpenter has been a bit cold recently, he thrives as a middle-of-the-order bat against right-handed pitching, as he owns a .411 wOBA and .344 ISO against righties. Carpenter should be able to exploit Flexen’s weaknesses this evening.
