Pick #1: Bobby Witt Jr. – Kansas City Royals – More than 10 Fantasy Points
Witt picked up another hit yesterday, pushing his hitting streak to nine games. He is gearing up for tonight’s game against the struggling Chicago White Sox. Witt has been absolutely on fire, rocking a 1.340 OPS in July. On the flip side, Chris Flexen has been a mess for the second year in a row, with a rough 5.15 xFIP and a troubling 46.9% fly-ball rate.
Witt has crushed Flexen in their prior meetings, and given how the White Sox bullpen was overworked with 19.1 innings pitched over the weekend against Seattle, lock this one in early before the line moves or disappears as Witt is more than capable of racking up fantasy points in a hurry.
Pick #2: Andre Pallante – St. Louis Cardinals – More than 3.0 Strikeouts
With the trade deadline just a day away, Pallante is potentially getting his last chance to prove he can step into the fifth starter spot for the St. Louis Cardinals. The 25-year-old has had an up-and-down season, but he appears to be putting things together down the stretch.
Over his last seven starts, Pallante has posted a 2.82 ERA, a 1.10 WHIP, and is averaging 4.7 strikeouts per outing. This isn’t the easiest matchup on the board, but Pallante has picked up 3+ strikeouts in eight of his last nine starts. This line just look a bit too soft.
