Pick #1: Brent Rooker – Oakland Athletics – More than 1.5 Total Bases
Brent Rooker is on a hot streak lately. He got a hit in yesterday’s game and now owns an impressive 1.400 OPS in 60+ at-bats during the month of July. Rooker has been especially effective against lefties this year, posting a .368 ISO and .388 wOBA against them. Tonight, he’s up against Kenny Rosenburg, a left-handed pitcher making his first start of the season.
In relief, Rosenburg hasn’t been very successful so far, as he’ll toe the rubber owning a 6.30 ERA and 1.60 WHIP from the bullpen. Rooker, likely in the cleanup spot in the Oakland lineup, seems set for a strong performance tonight.
Pick #2: Gunnar Henderson – Baltimore Orioles – More than 1.5 Total Bases
This one is pretty straightforward. Lefties have absolutely killed Roddery Munoz in his rookie season, as they have posted a .302 average and 1.072 OPS against the 23-year-old. Gunnar Henderson is quickly establishing himself as one of the best left-handed hitters in the game. Henderson owns a .415 wOBA, .304 ISO, and 175 wRC+ against right-handed pitching. Henderson has been better on the road this season, and I expect him to have a sweat-free win on more than 1.5 total bases.
