Pick #1: Alec Burleson – St. Louis Cardinals – Less than 6.5 Fantasy Points

Look, Paul Skenes is already in the conversation as the best pitcher in baseball. Over the last two months, his 2.41 xFIP is the best in all of MLB. Opposing hitters are hitting just .201 on the season, and he’s only allowed 11 runs against over his last ten starts. Burleson has been swinging a hot bat and all, but it’s hard to see St. Louis getting much offense going against the presumtive favorite for NL Rookie of the Year. I don’t see Burleson picking up an extra-base hit and a run/RBI in this one, pushing me firmly toward playing Less than 6.5 Fantasy Points.

Pick #2 – Jarren Duren – Boston Red Sox – More than 9.5 Fantasy Points

Duren has been unstoppable at the plate lately, and even walked away with the All-Star Game MVP last week. He tripled and scored a pair of runs in his first-ever game at Coors Field last night and had posted five consecutive multi-hit games in a row prior. This looks like it may be somewhat of a bullpen game between these two teams, and after a 12-inning affair last night, these pens might be a little worn down. Colorado also happens to own an MLB-worst 5.70 bullpen ERA, so I expect a high-scoring game here and Duren should be right in the middle of the damage for Boston…. as usual.
