Pick #1: Lane Thomas – Washington Nationals – More than 0.5 Runs

I can’t believe Dallas Kuechel is still pitching in MLB in 2024. The 2015 AL Cy Young winner is a shell of his former self. This experiment in Milwaukee seems like it’ll be short-lived. But not before we can take advantage of some props! Righties own a .282 average and .921 OPS against Kuechel this season, and Lane Thomas will likely slide right back into the heart of this Washington lineup that looks ripe to do plenty of damage this afternoon.

Thomas has mashed left-handed pitching for a .431 wOBA and 182 wRC+ this season and, with 22 stolen bases, can get himself into scoring position every time he reaches base. I expect some crooked numbers from Washington this afternoon.

Pick #2: Zack Littell – Tampa Bay Rays – More than 3.5 Strikeouts

It’s hard to trust Littell after being shellacked in his last outing, but this line looks like a bit of an overreaction. Littell has posted 4+ strikeouts in each of his last four appearances and has this number beaten in 13 of his 18 starts this season. He has been much better at home, where he sports a 3.57 ERA with 55 strikeouts in 53 innings at Tropicana Field. Cleveland whiffed 13 times last night. Littell’s 3.82 xFIP this season implies he’s due for some positive regression soon.
