Pick #1: Jack Flaherty – Detroit Tigers – More than 5 Strikeouts

Flaherty has been a terrific addition to this Detroit pitching staff and belongs in the AL Cy Young conversation as we approach the All-Star break. His 2.33 xFIP is the best mark in all of MLB among pitchers with 70+ innings of work, and he’ll take the mound owning a career-high 33.0% strikeout rate. Flaherty has racked up 5+ strikeouts in 13 of his 15 starts this season. While Cleveland is a low-strikeout team against right-handed pitching, Flaherty did fan six in their only prior meeting this season. Flaherty will be looking to hit the ASB on a high-note here.

Pick #2: Vladimir Guerrero – Toronto Blue Jays – More than .5 Total Bases

Guerrero has cooled off just a bit lately, but the Toronto slugger has still picked up at least one hit in 13 of his last 15 games. He rocks a .385 wOBA and .186 ISO since the beginning of May. Meanwhile, his counterpart in this one, Jordan Hicks, looks to be trending in the wrong direction. The converted closer known for his gas appears to be losing steam as we’ve seen his average fastball velocity drop under 95 mph consistently over the last month. The outcome has not been great for Hicks, as he owns an 0-4 record and a 5.51 ERA since the last week of May.
