Framber Valdez – Houston Astros – Fewer than 6.5 Hits Allowed

Valdez had one absolutely abysmal start this season (8 ER in 5 innings against the Angels back in May), but otherwise has been solid on the mound for the surging Astros. Valdez dominated this Toronto team in their only previous meeting this season, tossing 7.2 scoreless innings back in early April. Toronto’s .296 team wOBA against left-handed pitching is the 4th-worst mark in the American League. Valez has only allowed 7+ hits in four of 14 starts this season.

Heliot Ramos – San Francisco Giants – More than 1.5 Total Bases

A former first-round pick of the Giants, Ramos is starting to show off his upside at the MLB level regularly as the season reaches its mid-way point. He hit .304 with a .946 OPS during the month of June and has kept that hot streak rolling into early July. He received a night off last night but should return to the #3 hole this afternoon, where he’ll turn his attention to Charlie Morton. He’s still flying a bit under the radar given the production and has seen a nice uptick in all the power indicators in games away from the spacious Oracle Park. With multiple hits in each of his last three starts (and 14 of his last 27 starts), there appears to be some value on more than 1.5 total bases here.
